Job DescriptionWe are seeking a highly skilled Business Architect to join our Group Finance: Operations & Enablement team in Cape Town. The role is responsible for shaping and optimising finance business processes, capabilities, and operating models to support strategic objectives and drive operational excellence. Working across business, technology, and product teams, the Business Architect will establish and maintain end-to-end process architectures, identify improvement opportunities, and ensure alignment between finance processes, data, and systems.Key Result Areas / Outputs:Business Architecture ResponsibilitiesDevelop and maintain end-to-end finance process architectures (e.g. record-to-report, procure-to-pay, order-to-cash)Define and manage finance business capability models and value streamsEstablish current-state and target-state process views to guide improvementIdentify cross-process inefficiencies, control gaps, and standardisation opportunitiesEnsure alignment of finance processes across business units and platformsProvide architectural input into prioritisation and sequencing of improvementsMaintain a holistic view of how processes, data, and systems interact across the finance landscapeEnsure alignment between finance processes and the application landscape, including Oracle ERP, Oracle EPM, Oracle HFM, Finance Data Warehouse, Accurate, IDU, and WorkivaDrive standardisation of process frameworks, taxonomy, and modelling approachesContinuous Improvement & OptimisationProactively identify opportunities to enhance finance processes and operating modelsShape and structure improvement initiatives before they enter delivery pipelinesSupport prioritisation in collaboration with Product, Business, and Platform OwnersPromote reuse, simplification, and reduction of process and system complexityStakeholder & Operating Model AlignmentWork closely with:Product Owners – to shape and prioritise demand aligned to business architectureBusiness Owners – to ensure process alignment to operational needs and outcomesPlatform Owners – to ensure optimal use of system capabilitiesFacilitate alignment across stakeholders on target process and capability directionAct as a bridge across business, product, and technology domainsGovernance & StandardsEstablish and maintain business architecture standards, frameworks, and artefactsEnsure consistency and quality of process and capability definitionsProvide guidance and guardrails for process and system changesSupport structured demand shaping and ensure alignment to architectural principlesQualifications, Skills and Experience:Mininum Work Experience:At least 6 years’ experience in finance business architecture, or process improvementExperience working across finance systems, particularly Oracle ERP, Oracle EPM/HFM, or similar platformsExposure to finance data environments (e.g. data warehouses, reporting tools such as Workiva or IDU)Experience with process modelling methodologies (e.g. BPMN)Mininum Educational Requirements:Bachelor’s degree in one of the following:Finance / AccountingInformation Systems / Information TechnologyBusiness Science / Commerce (with finance or systems focus) / EngineeringPostgraduate qualification (advantageous, not required):Honours degree in Finance, Information Systems, or Business ManagementPostgraduate Diploma in Business Analysis, Enterprise Architecture, or Data AnalyticsCIMA, CA(SA), or similar finance qualification (beneficial where role leans more finance-heavy)Professional certification (advantageous, not required):TOGAF (Foundation level or exposure)Business Architecture certification (e.g. BIZBOK-aligned)IIBA certifications (ECBA / CCBA)Behavioural Competencies Required:Technical / FunctionalStrong understanding of finance processes and controlsBusiness architecture and process modelling capabilityAbility to think end-to-end across processes, systems, and dataStrong conceptual and structuring skillsBehaviouralStrong stakeholder alignment and influencing abilityStructured, logical, and big-picture thinkingSelf-managed with accountability for outputsCurious and improvement-oriented mindsetPragmatic and able to balance ideal vs practical SkillsAdaptive Mindset, Business Data Modeling, Business Intelligence (BI) Analysis, Business Process Modeling, Current State Analysis, Data Analysis, Database Reporting, Data Compilation, Define Future State/TO-BE State, Enterprise Readiness Assessment, Governance of Business Analysis Activities, Performance Gap Analysis, Professional Presentation, Project Risk and Issue Management, Requirements Elicitation and Facilitation, Verbal CommunicationsCompetenciesAction OrientedBusiness InsightCommunicates EffectivelyInterpersonal SavvyManages ComplexityOptimizes Work ProcessesPersuadesPlans and AlignsEducationNQF Level 7 - Degree, Advance Diploma or Postgraduate Certificate or equivalent (Required)Closing Date22 September 2026 , 23:59The appointment will be made from the designated group in line with the Employment Equity Plan of Old Mutual South Africa and the specific business unit in question.The Old Mutual Story!
